Okay everyone, the holiday season is upon us, so what better a time for me to curate a medical gift guide list of epic proportions than now?! I have hand selected dozens of products appropriate for the tastes and humour of medical professionals across a spectrum of specialties, practices, and styles. I can say with full conviction (as a medical student in my third year) that I would be thrilled to receive any of the below for Christmas, my birthday, graduation or any other notable occasion deserving of a specially selected present. Except maybe the tooth bracelet, I’ll leave that one for the dentists. This post is so long that I have broken it up into sections so that you may skip and scroll past whichever categories you believe unsuitable for the recipient whom you are shopping for. Simply click the picture you are interested and a new tab will open where you can view the details and make the purchase!
Alas, without further adieu:
I have found so many beautiful pieces over the years. The ones listed below range in price and quality. My favourites are the first 2 from Local Eclectic and the amazing selection from Science Jewelry.
MEDICAL BOARD GAMES:
Okay, let’s be honest, if you’re playing medical board games after work, you are a super nerd! But I can’t lie, I saw these online and have to say that I’d be interested in playing with some colleagues just for kicks…perhaps a gift to leave at the office?
AWESOME STATIONARY/STUDY ESSENTIALS:
You don’t have to be in the medical community to love stationary. However, given that we spend upwards of 8 years with our heads buried in the books, spicing up the odd notepad or pen holder can do wonders for morale when sitting in the same seat reviewing (or charting) for hours on end. This is my kind of eye candy.
This stuff is right up my alley. It’s hard to find sciency home stuff that isn’t tacky or completely overboard with detail (I don’t need to see ovarian vasculature on my dinner plates, thank you very much). I’ve curated some tasteful pieces below that may bring just the right touch of textbook medicine (and maybe a little Grey’s Anatomy) into the home.
THIS STUFF IS BEAUTIFUL! The brand Society6 in particular supply some awesome prints designed by artists that sign up online from all over the world. I’d recommend searching “human anatomy” or “medicine” on the website to find even more designs than what I’ve shared here. They not only print these designs on paper, but also on pillow cases, mugs, tech pieces, shower curtains (as seen above) and more.
COMFORT AND RELAXATION:
You don’t need to tell us to relax twice. Okay, maybe we do have a problem with that, but what can ya do when you’ve been on call for the past 15 hours? Here are some things that might just help your loved one kick back, relax, and loosen up those shoulders. Furthermore, I always like a cozy pair of slippers and the perfect candle before I jump into the books!
Here I’ve shared some pieces sold by my fellow social media peeps! Jane and Jady of JaneAndJady vlogs, Andrea from LifeAsAPA, and Jamie from TheStriveToFit. If you’re up for it, go give them a follow and let them know I sent you!
And, that’s it folks! I hope you found something worth giving in this post, or maybe something worth requesting for yourself! Let me know what you think about the products, I’d love to hear your feedback. Also, if you end up purchasing any of them, Tweet me a pic @medumentary so I can see!
